It’s so exciting when you finally order your Block Rockit! You find yourself daydreaming of all the quilts you’re finally going to make on your own or even of your own quilting business you want to start. Your order is placed, and then you find (currently) that you have to wait. …And wait….

The Quilting Machine Waiting Game

It’s so exciting when you finally order your Block Rockit! You find yourself daydreaming of all the quilts you’re finally going to make on your own or even of your own quilting business you want to start. Your order is placed, and then you find (currently) that you have to wait. …And wait….

The Block Rockit and Q’nique machines by the Grace Company have been very, very popular. Insomuch that the Grace Company was basically bombarded with orders that put them behind in the shipping side of things (the first major delay was primarily due to a machine upgrade that had to be made to all the machines before they were shipped to their owners). When Kathy Quilts first started selling the Block Rockit, our quilters were waiting about two weeks at the most to receive their machine. Due to the success of the Block Rockit, the current wait time is between 10 to 12 weeks. We definitely do not want you to have to wait this long to receive your machine, so the goal is for the Grace Company to get caught up in their orders to eventually ship the machines in two to three weeks.

If you are thinking about ordering, but are worried about this long wait, please know that the Grace Company is sending the Block Rockit and Q'nique machines out at a first come, first serve basis. So, the sooner you place your order, the sooner you will receive your machine.

So, for now, while you wait for your Block Rockit to arrive, what are some ideas/things you can do as you prepare to receive your very own quilting machine?

Plan and Design

-Draw! Doodle! Design! Grab a notebook and start your quilting design portfolio. You can use it for future references when you are quilting, but you can also use it to practice designs that are continuous. Sketch out your pieced-quilts and think of designs you want to stitch in each block. Look online for ideas, or look at designs that can be found all around you!

Prepare your Space

-Set up a quilting area that will inspire and cultivate creativity! You may have a special room just for your Block Rockit or you may be “sharing” space with the other rooms. Whatever space you have (even if it is small), prepare and organize it so you will enjoy being there as you quilt. Remove clutter and find bins/containers that will keep the tools and accessories you need well organized and easy to find. You can also follow our Pinterest page for great quilting space ideas!

Study up on Tension and Needles

-Questions regarding tension and needles are among the most common inquiries we receive. Those that know how to recognize and adjust poor tension have a much easier time diagnosing these problems and fixing them when they arise. Study up about tension. Watch some of our YouTube videos on the KathyQuilts Channel. You can also learn more about needles online, especially when to change them etc. We will be doing future blog posts on both of these subjects, so watch for those!

Keep in touch with other Block Rockit owners

-Some of the best information and tips you receive will come from fellow Block Rockit owners and users. If you do not know anyone personally that owns a Block Rockit, you can follow the Block Rockit Facebook page and join our Block Rockit Group. Or the Yahoo group to get to know other Block Rockit users. They can provide helpful insights on what to expect when you get your new machine.

Keep in touch with Kathy Quilts

-Let us know if you have questions, need help, or would like an update on the status of your shipment. We completely understand that you want your machine as soon as possible, and we do not want to leave you in the dark on anything. We can give you quilting tips, teach you more about the different operational or maintenance aspects of the Block Rockit, or help plan out projects you would like to work on. We can even check with the Grace Company with an estimated receiving date. Whatever your situation or needs are, we are very willing and happy to help you along the way. Email us, Facebook Message us, or call! 1-888-826-0222

In summary, while it is hard for you (and for us!) to play the waiting game, use this time you have to prepare for all the quilting you will soon be able to do!! The time will pass quicker that way, and you will be better able to use the Block Rockit when it arrives.
